Melasma in deeper skin tones: why slow and steady wins
Aggressive treatment makes pigmentation worse on deeper skin tones. What works instead.

Melasma is common, stubborn and very easy to make worse. On deeper skin tones, heat and inflammation trigger more pigment, so the treatments that promise the fastest results are often the ones that backfire.
What we do instead
- A pigment-safe home routine first, for at least four weeks
- Low-energy laser sessions spaced three weeks apart
- Strict daily SPF 50, reapplied
What to expect
Improvement is gradual and maintenance is part of the plan. Anyone who promises a one-session cure for melasma is selling something.
- pigmentation
- skin-of-colour
